The distinctive, rather austere style of Cragganmore 12 year old Single Malt Whisky is pleasing, with the taste of excellence imparted through 12 years of maturing. The perfect after-dinner malt with a good firm body, malty smoky finish and a personality as individual and distinguished than the distillery founder.
The Cragganmore Distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith, thought to be the most experienced distiller of his day. A former manager of Macallan, Glenlivet and Wishaw distilleries, and leaseholder of Glenfarclas distillery – he persuaded his landlord, Sir George Macpherson-Grant, to lease him the land to build a new distillery at Ballindalloch beside the Strathspey railway line.
Cragganmore distillery takes its rock face of a name from the mountain in whose shadow it sits. And this is a whisky with many high approaches and hidden valleys of flavour. Known as the most complex aroma on Speyside, it must also be one of the most delightful because the distillery can’t keep up with demand.
The Cragganmore 12 year old is complex, mature and well balanced, with a slight fruitiness on the tongue, overlaid with smokey notes.

Nose: The most complex aroma of any malt. Its bouquet is astonishly fragrant and delicate, with sweetish notes of cut grass and herbs. (thyme perhaps?)
Body: Light to Medium, but very firm and smooth.
Palate: Delicate, clean restrained, with a huge range of herbal, flowery notes.
Finish: Long.
