Gordon and MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice Highland Park 2006

This month is all about the Sherry Bomb and both whiskies are from Island Distilleries for our members to compare.

So another CASK STRENGTH BOMB for the month! This time a 14 year old, slightly peated, limited edition, single cask sherry bomb!

From our old mates at Gordon and MacPhail, the Members Small Batch Extra is from their Connoisseurs Choice range – The Highland Park 2006.

A bone crunching Cask Strength bottling of only 618 bottles, aged in a single refill-Sherry Puncheon from another Island Distillery – Highland Park.

Nose: A real tinned tropical fruit salad – almost rummy – vibe on the nose.

Palate: Very fruit driven – more of those tropical fruit salad flavours abound. A milk-arrowroot type maltiness makes itself known, backed up with some vanilla and just a little spice. There is also a very subtle suggestion of smoke there.

Finish: Fades out with a medium, dry finish, then a surprising salty note at the end.

Taste: Rich and creamy stewed FRUIT flavours accompany a hint of soft WHITE PEPPER. TOFFEE APPLE notes develop alongside RAISIN and malted BISCUIT.

Finish: A full finish with lingering FRUIT and SPICE.
