Ballindalloch Distillery, on the banks of the legendary salmon river, is for many the home of the definitive Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Hugely complex, rich with layers of flavour and a whiff of smoke in the finish. It is from this distillery that the Cragganmore 12yo is produced.
The distinctive, rather austere style of Cragganmore 12yo Single Malt Whisky is pleasing, with the taste of excellence imparted through 12 years of maturing. The perfect after-dinner malt with a good firm body, malty smoky finish and a personality as individual and distinguished than the distillery founder.
Complex, mature and well balanced, with a slight fruitiness on the tongue, overlaid with smokey notes.
Cragganmore 12yo – Our thoughts
Nose: The most complex aroma of any malt. Its bouquet is astonishingly fragrant and delicate, with sweetish notes of cut grass and herbs. (thyme perhaps?)
Body: Light to Medium, but very firm and smooth.
Palate: Delicate, clean restrained, with a huge range of herbal, flowery notes.
Distillery Tasting Notes
Nose: A combination of sweet floral fragrances, riverside herbs and flowers with some honey and vanilla. “The most complex nose of any Single Malt Scotch Whisky” (Michael Jackson).
Body: Firm, rounded, light to medium.
Palate: A strong malty taste with hints of sweet wood smoke and sandalwood.
Finish: A long, malt-driven finish with light smoke and hints of sweetness.
