About the Distillery
A very modern distillery, Glenfarclas was last refitted in the mid 1980’s. A Highland (Speyside) malt, the entire range is aged in sherry casks. This month we try the 12yo from this wonderful distillery.
Glenfarclas is credited as the first distillery to bottle a ‘cask-strength’ single malt for the commercial market. This means that it is bottled strait out of the cask it is aged in, with no diluting (and chill filtering which usually accompanies the diluting to prevent cloudiness). To pay proper homage to his wonderful trend-setter, January’s offer will include a 50ml bottle of the Glenfarclas cask strength.. watch it though.. 60% alcohol in this lively little malt. Be sure to ‘unlock’ the flavours of the cask strength with a few drops of water.
